Crash Testing

Vogelsitze is the only commercial vehicle passenger seat supplier with dedicated resources for crash testing in sled tests. Driving dynamics tests meet all regulations, standards and manufacturers’ guidelines.
All potential safety gaps are made clearly visible from our detailed crash tests with a wide range of vehicles including cars, vans, heavy commercial vehicles, and two-wheelers.
Crash Tests for Vehicle Manufacturers and System Suppliers vehicles being approved within the EU and in most other countries of the world must submit to various crash scenarios and fulfill certain safety criteria. Here, measurement data as well as image and video material are recorded and studied.
We carry out dynamic impact investigations, with servo-hydraulic accelerator sled system for nondestructive testing of vehicle components such as seats, safety belts, child seats or airbags.The crash conditions of real vehicles can be simulated or the deceleration profiles specified in test regulations for seat tests (ECE- R80, ECE- R17, FAR 25.562 aircraft seat tests), for Child seat tests (ECE R44, ECE R129, FMVSS 213), seat belt tests (ECE R16, AK-LV106, FMVSS 208)  can be tracked. The behaviour of vehicle components (seating systems, dividing grilles, coolers, etc.) and the safety-relevant interior fittings (airbag, belt systems, fittings, etc.) can be investigated. In a seat crash test, impacts can be performed up to a velocity of 80 km/h.
Our crash testing specialists with decades of experience carry outtests for component approval or homologation crash tests on behalf of authorities and vehicle manufacturers. We carry out with various recognized technical services.
Sled crash tests are supervised from a control room using a fully computerized crash control system – and customers can view the crash testing from a well-equipped observation room.

Static strength testing

For static strength testing, a tensile test system is available with which, among other things, tensile strength tests can be carried out on seat and belt anchorages of vehicle seats in accordance with the guidelines UN-R 14, 97/24/EC, UN-R145, UN-R107, DIN 75078, FMVSS 207, FMVSS 210, 2018/858/EC of the railway regulation UIC 566, ADR 34 and others.
The system has 8 pneumatic test cylinders that can apply tensile or compressive forces. The force curve is freely selectable (up to the maximum limit). The minimum force rise time for the nominal force is 0.5 seconds. The maximum travel of the train cylinders is 1000 mm. The clamping field for holding the test specimens has an area of 3 m x 4 m.
By default, the force-time curve is recorded during the experiments. The measurement of the deformation path and thus the representation of a force-displacement diagram is another option.
The test procedure is recorded with an and the deformation limits are optically analyzed. The test results with photos are summarized in a test report.

Vibration Testing (Shaker Test)

We offer in our testing center testing service of vibration test, with high-quality equipment, simulation of endurance testing of the seats. We test with the methods to be used for verification. Dynamics are crucial to identify any potential defects that might lead to the endangering of road traffic safety.
Our Hexapod propulsion shaker test system test the impact strength as well as reliability of various vibration test applications.In the laboratory, with the aid of vibration testing system, simulationsof reproduction of sinusoidal, random, resonant search and dwell, classic shock and road models, etc. can be achieved. It is essential for product quality assurance, new product research and development. are ideally suitable for the inspection task on account of the six degrees of freedom (6DoF) mobility in all directions plus rotations around all axles. The most important test steps according to the standard involve measuring the rigidity characteristics as well as simulationg the dynamic loads as a lifetime test.
Our Hexamove control automates these test functions. One particular strength is that path and force control can be mixed in the various degrees of freedom. For instance, the test bench controls the simulated load as a force control while horizontal translations or rotations are controlled as path and angle. The coordinate system can be transferred freely to the test speciment as required, with the result that rotations also refer to the reference points.
